The 2008-2009 Chilly Cheeks Series started
just before the cold and snow weather rolled
into Denver. Andy Palmer and Amy Smith won
the first race of this three race series.
Gina Ferguson followed up last year's second
place finish with a win this year, and 24
year old Tim Berkel made his first Ironman a
memorable one as he won in a time of 8:07.
Instead of making Nationals the only
qualifier, two more races will qualify
athletes for the World Championships.
